DOLPHIN 11.5"L X 7"H Limited Edition Size = 150 Slicing through the water at speeds up to 22 miles per hour, this bottlenose dolphin is all fluidity and motion. The magical illusion of the figurine is that the viewer appears to be joining the dolphin on his underwater journey. The artists at Herend have once again developed a new painting technique, this time taking inspiration from the world of watercolors with its inherent diffused lines and various shades of transparency, thereby creating the deliberate effect that we are seeing this fast moving object across a watery expanse. The illusion is complete with the addition of fishnet colors that conjure up the many depths of the aquatic realm and scallop shells that seem to be caught up and dancing in the dolphin’s strong wake.

Schomburg's Jewelers Herend
Herend

Herend hand crafts porcelain dinnerware and home accessories adorned in a variety of hand painted patterns. Favorite patterns in the U.S. include Queen Victoria, introduced in 1851 and named for her royal majesty after she purchased a large set for Windsor Castle; Rothschild Bird, created for the European banking family in 1860 to portray a legend about Baroness Rothschild losing her pearl necklace in the family garden; and Chinese Bouquet, designed in 1930 for Hungarian Count Albert Apponyi . From the very beginning, Herend’s animal figurines painted in a fishnet design took the U.S. by storm. Now, over 50 years later, the ranks of enthusiasts clamoring for figurines in the signature Herend fishnet pattern continue to multiply.
